Le Volume De Chanel Mascara 10 Noir | Review

I have a sample of the Le Volume De Chanel Mascara in 10 Noir. I fell in love with this mascara as soon as I used it for the first time, it is amazing! It retails at £24, which for me, is the only downside as such for me, because I am a student and I can't afford to spend that amount of money regularly, however it will definitely be going on my birthday or Christmas list!

So as far as the packaging goes, it's pretty simplistic but it's sleek at the same time. The wand is a bit bigger than normal mascaras, but not too big that you get mascara all over your eyelids.

From this photo you can see the difference after applying one coat of Le Volume De Chanel Mascara you can see how much more voluminous and lengthy my eyelashes look, and how I look wide awake (in comparison to the right eye in the photo which has no mascara at all).

This is what my lashes look like after one coat of the mascara on each. I have no other make up on at all, no concealer or foundation, primer, or eyeshadow so this is completely natural (minus the mascara of course). I cannot express enough how much I love this mascara. It's jet black, which I love, it doesn't flake or clump and it lasts for hours! The only downside so to speak, would be that it's not the easiest mascara to take off but if you use a good eye make up remover it doesn't take too long to remove. I guess this is because it lasts so long which is a good thing, so I'd much prefer to know my mascara lasts all day and is a little harder to take off at the end of the day, rather than it flaking off! For these photos I didn't apply any mascara to my bottom lashes just so you can see the impact of the mascara on the top lashes.

I am honestly so impressed with this mascara, which pleases me since I got it as a free sample and it's my first Chanel make up product!

Have you tried any Chanel mascaras?

Day of revision ft. Yankee Candles Sun and Sand

Today I decided I needed to spent a whole day revising and not get distracted (which clearly didn't happen since I took these photos and I am now blogging about my day haha!). Anyway, when I do spend time revising these are usually my essentials.

Tying my hair up and having it sit on the top of my head like a pineapple - it may look ridiculous but that's okay since no one will see me and it's out of my face!

Mind maps - I know some people hate them but I love them.

Making my revision colourful - I love making my work colourful, I find that way my revision is a little less dull. I use felt tips for huge mind maps, highlighters and thin tipped liners as well.

Lighting a candle - it always makes me feel calmer, and today I was burning 'Sun and Sand' by Yankee Candles. Mine is just the sampler size and the glass jar is from my Ikea haul. I really love the scent of this candle, I bought it last summer but completely forgot about it so I thought burning it now would try and keep me focused for summer!

Coffee - Lots and lots of coffee to keep me going!

What are your essentials for revising?

Small Ikea Haul (Mainly candles) | May 2013

My Mum went into Ikea on Sunday and picked me up a few things I'd been wanting for a while but hadn't got round to buying.

I was just looking for a simple candle to go in my room and so I now have the Mattfull scented candle which is an absolute bargain at 75p! I've not burnt it yet, but it smells lovely.

I think this has to be the cutest candle I have ever seen! I can't find the link on the website but I think it's too beautiful to burn.

I also asked for some scented tea lights since sometimes I don't want to be burning a candle for hours, just a short period of time. These are the Tindra Scented Tealights which are £1.50 for 36, another bargain and they smell beautiful as well as looking pretty.

Next these are the Fyrkantig Block Candle Holders which are 3 for £1. I thought these would look cute for tea lights in my room.

Yet some more candle holders! I thought I could put my Yankee Candle Samplers in, since I'm stuck as to where I can put them safely whilst burning them. These are the Galej Tealight Holder and you get 4 for £1.

Finally, I got the Skurar Plant Pot which I've seen many bloggers use as a make up brush holder, and for only £2 I thought I'd give it a go. It looks so pretty and I'm glad I have this!

Do you have your eye on anything from Ikea?

I hate making excuses for not posting, but I'm about to anyway! I have my A-level exams starting soon so my posts won't be very frequent for the next few weeks, but I do have a few posts planned which I'll try and post asap!

(I couldn't resist posting some photos of how cute and then crazy my kitten can be!)

Are there any posts you'd particularly interested in seeing from me? If you have any ideas, please comment below because I'm interested in posting what you'd like to see.

MUA Undress Your Skin Flawless Skin Primer Review

Back in February I blogged about the products I bought from the MUA Undress Your Skin collection and overall I am very impressed with the range. I have been using the Undress Your Skin Flawless Skin Primer every single day since I bought it, so I thought it was about time I made a review post about it.

The packaging is plain and simple, but I quite like it, it means I'm not wasting money on unnecessary fancy packaging (although sometimes it is nice!), I like that it has a pump too because it means I can just use one pump for my whole face which means I waste less product.

You get 15ml of product for £5 which is a bargain price since this is a very good primer. However, this may not be a favourite for everyone, since it is a silicone based primer, but for me I have no problems with it, but keep that in mind if you're looking to pick it up. I've been applying this under my MUA Undress Your Skin Illuminating Foundation (which I have reviewed here), and it definitely makes the application of the foundation a lot smoother because my base is smooth, and increases the longevity of it.

I am really loving the new MUA products that have been released recently and I'm sure I'll be re-purchasing this when I've finished it, since I prefer it to my Rimmel Fix and Perfect Primer which was a previous favourite.

What's your favourite primer?

Boots Botanics BB Cream Radiant Youth - Light

I mentioned this in my recent Boots haul and I am so glad I bought it! I still can't find the link on the Boots website but I know it's definitely in stores so if you're interested pop into your local store and have a look! It's the Boots Botanics BB Cream Radiant Youth and mine is in the shade 'Light'. In my Boots store there were only two shades, light and medium however I'm sure there is another darker shade as there is usually at least 3 shades. I only paid £5.99 which is its introductory price, however I believe it is now £8.99

The packaging is pretty yet appealing at the same time, nothing fancy but it's not boring. I definitely agree that it blurs imperfections, evens out my skin tone and gives me radiant skin, all of these make my face look brighter and more 'youthful' in the morning - that might sound silly since I am still young, but it makes me look more awake (and I need this since I'm not a morning person!). I can't comment on whether it smooths the appearance of wrinkles, since I don't have any but I am a huge fan of the SPF 30 in this, especially since I am so pale.

As you can see from the swatch, it looks a little too dark for me when I first swatch it but it blends in nicely and smooths out the skin. It gives a good coverage for a BB cream since it's not too light but my freckles still show through and I don't look cakey. I am very pleased that this was pale enough for me (I know I mention this with almost every face product, but being as pale as I am it can be a real issue sometimes!).

This is definitely going to be a favourite of mine throughout summer since it's so light and easy to apply, it just gives me the little bit of coverage I'll want in summer but I won't feel like I'm wearing foundation, which I like. Sometimes I do set this with my MAC MSF Natural, but I still like how it wears throughout the day without a powder. It doesn't go patchy and it doesn't melt off in the heat (I say heat, I mean the 18°C weather we've been having here in England!). I am so impressed with this, I'll definitely re-purchase another when I've finished this one.

What's your favourite BB cream?

A good foundation for light skin - Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation ~ Light Porcelain

I am constantly on the look out for a new pale foundation that is pale enough for me, I really struggle with this and so I'm blaming my Irish heritage for that! I think I may have finally found a foundation that is genuinely pale enough for me. This might not seem like a big deal, but the fact it is also a drugstore foundation is even better.

This is the Match Perfection Foundation in Light Porcelain. Surprisingly enough I spotted this in my local Tesco for only £5 which is an absolute bargain! It's usually £6.99 which is still a very good price, and I will definitely be re-purchasing this when I run out. I am so happy with how pale it is, I believe it's a new shade that was released a couple of months ago but I've not seen it anywhere else so I decided to pick it up. I've already purchased Rimmel Match Perfection before and I really liked it (apart from needing to blend it lots due to the shade) so I already knew I'd (hopefully) like this foundation.

As you can see, there is a huge difference between Light Porcelain and Ivory. Ivory was the previous shade I owned and next to my new one, it looks so orange! The main difference after the shade, is the packaging, I much prefer the new packaging (pictured of the left) and also the new foundation has SPF 18 rather than SPF 15 and even though it's a small change it's always good to have SPF in your foundation.
The next difference is the formulation of the actual foundation, it's not as thick as my other one and so feels a lot nicer on the skin, I had no problem with the old formulation but this one is just improved.
It gives a medium coverage but I'd say it is build able and it doesn't look cakey.

I am so impressed with this foundation, mainly the shade but also the packaging, the price and the formulation. I really think this is going to be a favourite foundation for a long time. If you're pale and looking for a good drugstore foundation I'd definitely say check out this because it's incredible.
